The September 10, 2006 meeting of the
Golden Triangle PC Club had a total of 24 participants. The meeting was
called to order by the club president, Don Schoening, who welcomed members
Don noted that the CD’s that were requested by 12 of the club members in
the August 2006 meeting presentation were not yet available, and he hoped
the requests would be available at the October 2006 meeting.
The meeting was then turned over to Ira Wilsker (host of the radio program
“My Computer Show”). Ira began with giving us information on the latest
free-ware utilities, followed by a Q and A on computers, hardware, and
software. Questions discussed were varied, and included desktop hints,
using and comparing utilities, freeing up hard drive space, browsers, and
After the Q and A session, a drawing for door prizes was held. The winners
of the great door prizes, provided by Ira Wilsker, included Video Express
(J.B.Oakes); Verbatum DVD-R Pack (Don Schoening); 2 Instant Music (John
McGee and Calvin Sharp); Home Data Bank (Marty Tirabasso); and Titanium
Anti-Virus ( John Mikeska).
After a brief discussion on upcoming programs, the meeting was adjourned
at 4:05 PM.
The next meeting of the Golden Triangle PC Club will be held October 8,
2006, and the topic will be “Digital Photography,” hosted by Bob Mainord
of the Lamar Institute of Tech.
