Todayís meeting of the GTPCC was held in The Community Room of Howell Furniture, 6095 Folsom, Beaumont, Texas 

Attendance: 23 Members and 4 Guests.

1:30 Session opened with Dr. Samís Discussion and Q&A Group with Topics discussed:

Questions on Acronis Imaging Software from last month's meeting. The importance of using External Hard drives for backup and imaging, as well as storing backups off site. Disk utilities were re-visited as well. Free versions of Ccleaner, Eusing registry cleaner, wise disk cleaner, and Auslogic defragger.Free anti-malware programs like AVG, Avast, and Immunet were discussed. The subject of which brands of computers were recommended and reliable were also part of the discussion. Dr. Sam reminded members and guest that the LIT Student computer club is accepting old computer and electronic gear for recycling.The main speakers were introduced by Dr. Sam at 2:30 pm. Landon Andoin and Cindy Giglio from Barnes and Noble Booksellers gave an interesting presentation on the Nook E-Reader. Electronic books can be downloaded to the Nook via WiFi or 3G for free. There are many thousands of books available in this format at one third the cost, in addition to thousands of free books. Free e-reading software from the B & N website can be installed on desktop and notebook computers for this purpose as well. Questions were answered during the entire presentation. At 4:00 pm  announcements were made by President Don Schoening, Including the Security Alert on "Cross-Site Scripting". Door prizes Drawing were held by Treasurer, Jerry McDaniels.
