JULY 15, 2007


The July 15th meeting of the Golden Triangle Computer Club had a total of 19 members and 8 guests. New members are Mitchell Dupree and George Scully who joined today also 3 member renewals, Ric Johnson, John and Judy McGee and  Ira Wilsker. 

The Meeting  presided by Dr. Sam Giglio, was called to order at 2:40 PM, who then introduced the guest speaker, Joe Mike Brooks of Zydeco Technologies. Mr. Brooks gave a brief summary of the many services Zydeco Technologies provides followed by a presentation on wireless networking applications.

This included the use of routers, definitions, interfacing, connections for sharing of multiple computer networks and access points. Joe discussed the means to improve network performance and security as well as the setting up of wireless networks and network devices. Using a Linksys router as an example, router configuration was demonstrated.  The presentation was followed by a Q & A session. 

A brief discussion of IObit software and Panda Nanoscan virus check was held followed by handout material provided by Ira Monroe on past copies of the Examiner’s  Ira Wilsker Computer Tech. column.  

The meeting continued with the drawing for door prizes with:
Mitchell Dupree winning a Linksys broadband router provided by Zydeco Tech.;  Brandon East winning a firewire cable provided by  Office Depot (Dowlen store);  Jerry McDaniel winning a $10.00 gift card from Gander Mountain;
Ira Monroe winning a World Book Encyclopedia CD provided by GTPCC;
John Lauve winning a scrolling calculator provided by Office Depot (Stagg Drive);

The meeting adjourned at 4:45 PM.
