Today’s meeting of the GTPCC was held in the Community Room of Howell Furniture, 6095 Folsom in Beaumont, Texas

1:30p.m.: Dr. Sam opened meeting with Questions & Answers. Topics discussed:
Hard drive transfer to USB External Drive, data transfer to new computer.
Hard drive partitioning using Windows and Easeus (demonstrated).
Formatting drives: Mac uses FAT 32. Windows NT most common now.
Laptop batteriesw & adaptors, and using inverters. (Retain battery for filter).

Highly recommended www.techsupportalert.com (Gizmo) for reliable software to optimize computers. Software discussed was widely use Ccleaner And Ccleaner enhancement for general cleanup of disks and registry. Also discussed was Wise disk cleaner, Wise registry cleaner, Eusing registry cleaner, and ToolWiz Tool Care. Also System Ninja for a complete frmoval of Junk files. Defragging is an important part of a smooth running computer, using utilities such as Auslogics, Deflagler, Windows and IOBit.
It is important to keep computer updated using Windows Updater noting that many updates are not installed until reboot of computer. Updating software is equally important to avoid malware and tracking.
It is a must to keep computer free from malware, viruses, tracking cookies and Trojans. Software such as SUPERAntispyware and MalwareBytes are excellent utilities for safe computing.
Other utilities discussed: Recuva for recovery of lost files, RevoUninstaller for complete (residual files) uninstalling programs and utilities, TimeFreeze (by ToolWiz) for safe "Sandboxing", as well as freeware verses paid versions. Many other useful optimizing utilities at www.gtpcc.org .
