Today’s meeting of the GTPCC was held in Community Room of Howell Furniture, 6095 Folsom in Beaumont, Texas

2:30 pm: Guest Speaker Ira Wilsker presentation on "Cyber Crime".
Our guest speaker, Ira Wilsker, continued the meeting with his presentation of Cyber Attacks. He gave several examples of hacking by China and Russia into newspapers’ data and power grids’ controls to show the seriousness of cyber attacks on America. He explained ways this can be done such as by spear phishing. Ira also gave us tips and recommendations as to what we as individuals can do to prevent hacking:
Do not open attachments until verified by the sender.
Security suites are a must in addition to antivirus programs.
Paid versions of these programs are better and inexpensive, especially if purchased online at sites such as ebay and cheapantivirus.com.
Outpost and Trend Micro Titanium maximum are highly recommended.
Key scramblers can be very effective.
Few threats are by viruses. Most threats are by malware.
