Today’s meeting of the GTPCC was held in The Community Room of Howell Furniture, 6095 Folsom, Beaumont, Texas

Attendance:19 Members and 1 Guest.
Guest Speaker: Cory Griffith, GTPCC Member, Open Source: Lines & Arduino

1:50 p.m.:  Dr. Sam Giglio opened meeting with Questions & Answers.Topics discussed:

Windows 7:  availability Professional vs. Home Premium edition, XP compatibility mode.

Utility programs such as Acronis, Microsoft Process Explorer, SpyBot S&D & CCleaner.

A reminder:  Always manually update programs each time before you use them, such as SuperantiSpyware and Malwarebytes, to make sure you are dealing with latest version even if auto program says it has been updated.

2:30 p.m.:  Main presentation by guest speaker and fellow member Cory Griffith on Linex OS and Arduino hardware and software.

Cory first discussed licensing agreements and distributions explaining that he uses Ubuntu.

He explained mounting, package management and software sources, super user / root user and Xwindows services.

He showed us several free programs that are available such as Oracle, Calvary and Gnome.

Cory also discussed and showed us Electronics by Arduino such as Beagle Board. 

3:30 p.m.:  President thanked Cory for his presentation.  Announcements were made.

Next month, fellow member Ira Wilsker will present free services from Google.

Sam announced Lauri Arnold from Lamar will be our guest speaker in April with a follow up from her presentation last year on virtual machines.

We then proceeded with our annual elections.

Bobby Ford made a motion to re-elect our existing officers and Gwen Jones for secretary.  After a brief discussion, the motion was seconded and carried.
