The January 21, 2007 meeting of the Golden Triangle PC Club had a total of 32 Participants, including guests. 

The meeting was called to order at 2:30 PM by club president Don Schoening who welcomed everyone to our first meeting of 2007.  

The president introduced the guest speaker, Greg Badeaux of NFO Technologies for a presentation on the new MicroSoft operating system "VISTA". This presentation Included the preparation, system requirements, instatallation procedure and initial tips for "Vista". Greg then proceeded to showing the Vista desktop and describing  features and functions of each program as well as features of all 6 versions of Vista. Greg also introduced the Vista Transformation Pack for a sample viewing on XP and the Tech Rebublic website pages: http://content.techrepublic.com.com/2346-10877_11-37860.html and http://content.techrepublic.com.com/2346-10877_11-39508-1.html 

The meeting then continued with noting of our upcoming meeting for February would be a presentation on Backups and backup utilities which would include the Vista OS and the importance of backups. The upcoming meetings for March and April were also noted. 

Free CD’S for the Linux operating system “Ubuntu” were given out to all who wished to install it on there computers noting that a image backup be made prior to install.  A critique on this OS is requested from all who install and view Ubuntu.  

The meeting continued with reminding all members of upcoming elections during the February meeting. Think about who you would like to nominate for President, Vice President and Secretary. Jerry McDanial has agreed to continue as club treasurer. 

We then proceeded with the drawing for door prizes. Pat Williams winning Office Depot "Gift card for $10.00" supplied by GTPCClub. Corinne Griggs winning a 128 flash drive donated by Office Depot. Bobby Ford winning a Digital Camera donated by Bob Manard. Billy Dunlap winning a Photo Album 5 software package. Monte Woodard winning a  Surge Master surge protector, donated by Office Depot. J. B. Oakes winning the “I Video to go for I Pod" software. 

The meeting then adjourned at 4:35 PM.
